SCIENCE COMMUNITY LEAD

Accountabilities: • Build, manage, and grow online science communities, primarily on Discord, including channel structure, onboarding flows, bots, and engagement systems. • Host and facilitate community events such as AMAs, journal clubs, voice discussions, and live online sessions. • Develop and execute community programming that encourages participation, highlights member research, and fosters collaboration. • Identify and connect researchers, scientists, and emerging voices to encourage collaboration and knowledge exchange. • Moderate discussions to maintain a welcoming, inclusive, and high-quality community environment. • Track engagement metrics and experiment with new formats and initiatives to improve community health and participation. Requirements: • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, or a related scientific field. • Strong familiarity with online communities, particularly Discord, Reddit, and/or X (Twitter), with prior moderation experience preferred. • Excellent written communication skills with a warm, accessible, and engaging tone. • Comfort hosting live events, voice chats, and interactive community sessions. • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously. • Proactive mindset with a willingness to experiment, iterate, and improve community engagement strategies. • Genuine interest in biotechnology, life sciences, and scientific research communities.
