About The Role
Altrad are currently looking for a driven Civil Engineer to join the team.
The nuclear defence sector in the UK is vital for maintaining national security and strategic stability. We are looking for an experienced Civil Engineer to support the technical capability of the Design Authority (DA). This role will be suited to engineers with experience in Civil design.
Key Deliverables:
• Technical excellence in the specification, production and assessment of design packages for infrastructure.
• Specification of reliability and operational constraints for infrastructure.
• Assessment of work control procedures for maintenance of infrastructure.
• Assessment of infrastructure design, material state, qualification and ageing mechanisms to permit the continued operation of facilities and utilities.
• Discharge and display a robust safety and security culture.
• Ensure outputs of safety related contracts meet the contract requirements and appropriate safety requirements by acting as an intelligent customer.
Key Requirements / Qualifications:
Essential
•
• Experience in the assessment and design of reinforced concrete and steel structures.
•
Experience producing sound technical justifications to support and authorise civil/structural design modifications.
•
Ability to apply appropriate engineering principles and practical methods across the design, construction, commissioning, operation, maintenance and decommissioning of engineering systems and projects.
•
Ability to apply a broad range of engineering knowledge and understanding, including the use of existing and emerging technologies.
•
Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, or a relevant equivalent qualification.
•
Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status, or equivalent professional experience.
Desirable
•
• Experience working within a regulated or high-risk industry, ideally within a nuclear environment.
• Familiarity with safety assessment and risk management techniques, such as HAZID and HAZOP studies.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status, or equivalent professional experience.
