SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER (SCALA & PYTHON)

Contract: B2B Rate: 150-160 zł/h net + VAT depending on skills and experience Location: Remote within the EU Duration: 6+ months, with the possibility of long-term cooperation Start: ASAP Project: Backend engineering project focused on developing and maintaining a SaaS platform and expanding its AI-powered capabilities. Key Technologies/Areas • Scala • Python • Backend development • REST APIs • SaaS platforms • CI/CD • Automated testing • Nice to have: AI and LLM integrations, ElasticSearch, AWS, Azure, or GCP Project Overview You’ll join an existing engineering team as a Senior Software Engineer , contributing to the development and maintenance of backend services for an established SaaS platform. The role combines Scala and Python development . Scala is a core technology used within the existing platform, while a significant part of the day-to-day development will be carried out in Python. You will also support the expansion of AI-powered functionality across the product, including integrations with internal and external AI services, LLM platforms, transcription solutions, and other machine-learning-based capabilities. This is a hands-on role for an experienced backend engineer who can work independently, contribute to architectural and technical decisions, and build reliable, scalable, production-ready solutions. Responsibilities • Develop, maintain, and extend backend services using Scala and Python. • Design and implement scalable functionality across an existing SaaS platform. • Build and expand AI-powered features within the product. • Integrate internal and external AI services through APIs, including LLM-based platforms and similar tools. • Support the maintenance and further development of existing Scala-based services. • Develop new backend functionality primarily in Python. • Design reliable and maintainable integrations between platform services and external systems. • Write clean, testable, and well-documented production code. • Participate in technical discussions, code reviews, and architectural decisions. • Ensure the quality, scalability, performance, and security of implemented solutions. • Work closely with software engineers, product teams, and other technical stakeholders. • Support CI/CD processes and modern software development workflows. • Troubleshoot production issues and improve the stability of existing services. Requirements • At least 7 years of professional software development experience. • Strong production experience with Scala . • Strong proficiency in Python and experience developing production-grade backend applications. • Hands-on experience building and maintaining backend services. • Ability to work effectively across both Scala and Python codebases. • Strong understanding of software engineering best practices. • Experience with automated testing, version control, code reviews, and CI/CD. • Good understanding of scalable and maintainable software architecture. • Ability to independently analyze technical problems and propose practical solutions. • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate within an international engineering team. • Fluency in Polish and an advanced level of English (B2/C1) Nice to have • Commercial experience working with LLMs or generative AI solutions . • Experience integrating AI services or AI models into production systems. • Experience building integrations with external AI platforms through APIs. • Experience with AI-based transcription, speech-to-text, or related technologies. • Experience with ElasticSearch . • Experience with public cloud AI services available in AWS, Azure, or GCP. • Experience developing or maintaining PHP applications. • Previous experience working on SaaS products. • Understanding of AI service scalability, monitoring, performance, and cost optimisation.
