Job description
Accountabilities:
• Create, review, and implement data and AI governance policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines, ensuring they support business objectives and responsible data use.
• Monitor privacy and data protection regulations, including LGPD and GDPR, and incorporate relevant requirements into governance practices and organizational processes.
• Establish and maintain practices covering data protection, privacy, security, and appropriate responses to governance or security violations.
• Conduct periodic governance audits and assessments, identify gaps, and develop or coordinate action plans to address deficiencies.
• Prepare governance reports, track key indicators, and define roadmaps for continuous improvement of data and AI governance capabilities.
• Coordinate governance committees and working groups, ensuring alignment between stakeholders on policies, standards, responsibilities, and priorities.
• Develop and deliver training and guidance to employees on data governance, privacy, responsible AI, and appropriate data usage.
• Collaborate with architecture, software development, legal, compliance, cybersecurity, and other business teams to embed governance throughout the data lifecycle.
• Manage data lifecycle practices, ensuring data integrity, appropriate retention, and alignment with organizational strategy.
• Establish data domains and maintain accurate data catalogs, metadata dictionaries, and related governance documentation.
• Assess and organize the analytics ecosystem, defining standards for data retention, deletion, disposal, and sanitization.
• Establish processes for data acquisition, validation, standardization, and quality management from source through consumption.
• Monitor data quality through defined metrics, business rules, indicators, and quality certifications or controls.
• Define and maintain data governance roles and responsibilities, including Data Owners and Data Stewards.
• Promote a culture of accountability and responsible use of data and AI across the organization.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Statistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Professional experience with data governance, data management, privacy, compliance, or related disciplines.
• Practical knowledge of privacy and data protection regulations, particularly LGPD and GDPR.
• Experience with data governance frameworks such as DAMA-DMBOK, FAIR, DCAM, or comparable methodologies.
• Knowledge of Big Data technologies such as Hadoop and Spark, as well as SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Familiarity with ETL tools, data warehouses, and cloud computing platforms, preferably AWS.
• Knowledge of data visualization tools and the ability to use data and metrics to support governance decisions.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to address complex issues, make informed decisions, and manage multiple priorities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining strong alignment with stakeholders and governance objectives.
• Experience working in complex data environments or organizations with significant regulatory, compliance, or data-management requirements is advantageous.
• Certifications such as CDMP, DCAM, or other relevant data governance and compliance credentials are desirable.
• Experience with responsible AI, algorithmic risk, or AI governance is a plus.
