This job description is not intended to be all inclusive; employees will perform other reasonably related business duties as assigned by the<br />immediate supervisor and/or hospital administration as required.<br />• Always maintains utmost level of confidentiality.<br />• Adheres to hospital policies and procedures.<br />• Demonstrates business practices and personal actions that are ethical and adhere to corporate compliance and integrity guidelines.<br />• Reviews the medical record and assigns the appropriate ICD and CPT codes.<br />• Codes all assigned outpatient record types daily.<br />• May assist with audits as needed.<br />• Monitors assigned charge review work queue.<br />• Codes records in a timely manner.<br />• Maintains satisfactory coding performance in accordance with the department’s accuracy target and productivity requirements for each record type.<br />• Assist with billing staff coding questions to assist with denials.<br />• Responds to coding requests from internal and external customers, i.e. business office, physician office.<br />• Requests information needed from physician as needed.<br />• Participates in attending educational programs, hospital and departmental staff meeting.<br />• Performs other duties as required by CBO Coding Manager and/or Director</p><p></p><p>EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:</p><p>High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or Associate&#39;s degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.</p><p>3 -5 years’ physician coding experience preferred.<br />Pediatric multi-specialty coding experienced preferred</p><p></p><p>CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS.<br />Certified as any of the following: CCS, CCS-P, CPC, AAPC specialty coding certifications, RCC Radiology coding certification.<br />Must maintain continuing education hours to maintain certification.</p><p></p>
